Clarence James (Mac) McCormick III

 Born in Vincennes, Mac McCormick attended Washington elementary school, Clark junior high school, and Lincoln where he graduated in 1969.  In high school he was a four-year letterman in golf and basketball and was captain of the outstanding 1968 and 1969 basketball teams that played in the state finals tournament.  His classmates elected him vice-president of their junior class.  He also was active in student council and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  

            McCormick earned a full scholarship in golf at the University of Tennessee where he played in every match in his four-year tenure.  He was team captain his senior year and also was named to the All-Southeastern Conference golf team two years running.  He was one of 15 players selected nationally for at-large berths in NCAA competition.  He graduated in 1973 with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. 

McCormick was a co-founder in 1981 of Bestway Express and he continues to serve as chairman and CEO of this company.  He also is chairman and CEO of McCormick Inc., Bomac Equipment Corporation, KMA Trucking, BestWay Logistics, and Oubache Leasing.  He is vice-president of Jamac Corporation. 

            A leader in the trucking industry, McCormick has held several professional positions.  He was elected chairman of the Indiana Motor Truck Association in 1990, and in 1998 became chairman of the National Truckload Carriers Association.  He has served as chairman of the Labor & Human Resources Committee of the American Trucking Association as well as chairman of its political action committee.  Currently he is a member of the executive committee of the American Trucking Association. 

            Additionally he is co-chairman of Indiana Business for Responsive Government, the political action committee for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of state chamber’s executive committee. 

            Currently McCormick serves on the board of the Vincennes University Foundation and the Indiana Legal Foundation.  He is former board member of American National Bank. 

            McCormick is a member of the Elks Lodge, Vincennes Masonic Lodge #1, Evansville Scottish Rite, and Evansville Hadi Shrine.  He is an instrument-rated pilot who enjoys flying, sailing, and motorcycling. 

            McCormick has three sons: Will, Ry, and Eli.
