RICHARD M. ADAMS
Adams received his associates degree from VU in 1947. He earned his bachelors and masters degree in Mathematics and Physical Oceanography from Texas A & M University. After graduating, Adams served as a research scientist in oceanography for seven years at Texas A & M University. He then joined the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, Mass, as Chief of the Computation and Analysis Division.
He returned to Texas A & M for 5 years before serving in the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office in Washington D.C. as head of the Ocean Dynamics Branch. Adams then joined Texas Instruments Inc. in l966 as manager of Oceanographic Programs, where he supervised various engineering, radar testing and ocean acoustic programs. At Lincoln, Adams was a member of the National Honor Society, played the baritone horn in the band and worked on the Old Post Sentinel school paper. He was active in the Hi Y and worked after school at the YMCA.
He currently lives in retirement in Dallas with his wife, Jane. They have two children Jenny and David, and two grandchildren.
