DR. ROBERT R. ENGLE
Dr. Robert R. Engle is a 1947 graduate of Lincoln, where he was an honor student. After high school he attended VU, where he received his associate degree, and received the Distinguished Alumni award. He earned his bachelor's degree in Chemistry at DePauw University in 1951. At Wayne State University he earned his mastees degree and Ph.D.
For the next seven years Dr. Engle worked at Riker Laboratories. Before 1985 he held various positions at the National Cancer Institute and the Division of Cancer Treatment, in which he researched new drugs. Since 1985 he has been chief of the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, and he is now director of the Division of Experimental Therapeutics. Veteran of the U.S. Army, Dr. Engle and his wife make their home in Potomac, Maryland. They are the parents of six children.
