JOSEPH FLUMMERFELT
Flummerfelt received his bachelor of music degree from DePauw University in 1958. He directed most of DePauw's major campus musical productions, including Opera Workshop Monon Revue and Sigma Chi Revue. He earned a master of music degree from the Philadelphia Conservatory in 1962. He studied in France in the summer of 1964 and received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1971. He has received honorary doctorate degrees from Purdue University, Ursionus College, DePauw University and most recently, VU.
He is artistic director and principal conductor at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J., where he has served for 21 years as conductor of the Westminster Choir and the Westminster Symphonic Choir. He is chorus master of the New York Choral Artists. Each summer he serves as director of choral activities for the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy, and the Spoleto Festival U.S.A. in Charleston, S.C.
