DONALD E. MILLER ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The purpose of the award is to encourage, promote and recognize academic achievement in its broadest context. Donald E. Miller, a Lincoln High School graduate, class of 1940, provided the funds for this scholarship.

The two primary purposes of the award are to encourage academic improvement in students and to recognize academic achievement. The recipient receives a $500.00 scholarship and his or her name is placed on a plaque at Lincoln High School. The Academic Society hopes that the award helps the recipient in his or her career development. The monetary award will be made as soon as the Lincoln High School Academic Society's Treasurer has been shown proof that the recipient is enrolled in a college. The award is for one year only and cannot be renewed.

Decisions as to who shall receive the award shall be made by the Lincoln High School Academic Society Scholarship Committee. A panel consisting of the Academic Society President, two Academic Society board members, two faculty members (appointed by the administration), and a high school counselor will review the candidates and recommend an appropriate person to the Lincoln High School Principal. The latter shall have the right to make the final decision as to the recipient.

The overall intent is to recognize academic achievement and to assist in career development.
