National Art Honor Society

NAHS (National Art Honor Society) is an organization for sophomores through seniors that show an interest in art. Students do volunteer work through the community that is art related. NAHS members volunteer doing the following activities:

  • Face Painting at the local elementary schools
  • Creating art with elementary children during Family Fun Nights
  • ASAP (After School Arts Program)
  • Pumpkin Carving
  • North West Territory Art Guild Gallery Sitting
  • ArtVentures Art Camp sponsored by Tri Kappa
  • Setting up LHS Art Shows
  • Walking in the Homecoming Parade
  • Painting furniture for donation to the Vincennes Education Foundation (VEF)
  • School murals

Each NAHS member is required to volunteer 10 hours a year. After 30 hours, an art letter is awarded. Each additional 10 hours after will be awarded a bar. If a senior graduates with at least 30 volunteer service hours, has at least a "B" average in art classes, and maintains at least a 3.0 GPA then that student will be awarded a special graduation cord that represents their participation and academic success in NAHS and fine arts classes at Lincoln.

  • Art History I
  • Ceramics (I, II combined) - prerequisite of intro to 3D
  • Drawing (I, II combined) - prerequisite of intro to 2D
  • Intro to 2D (2 sections)
  • Advanced Placement 2D Studio Design

                                     

SEMESTER TWO:

  • Art History II
  • Painting (I, II combined) - prerequisite of intro to 2D
  • Advanced 2D Design (I, II combined) - prerequisite of intro to 2D
  • Intro to 3D (2 sections)

Mrs. Amy Landrey-Lane is the Art Teacher at LHS. She is an alumni of Lincoln's class of 1990. Mrs. Lane was graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations/Advertising and minor in Art and Design.  She was also graduated from Indiana State University with a bachelor's degree in Visual Arts Education with studio classes in Ceramics, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, 2D Design, 3D Design, Wood Sculpture, Drawing, Color Theory, and Art History. Mrs. Lane has a Masters Degree in Education. She is a member of the Art Education Association of Indiana, the National Art Education Association, the Northwest Territory Art Guild, the National Education Association, and the Vincennes Education Association. She has been nominated for the WTHI Golden Apple Award and most recently was chosen as a Peabody Energy Leader in Education. Prior to teaching at the high school level, she taught elementary art for 15 years where she was awarded Indiana's Elementary Art Educator of the Year from AEAI and Art Educator of the Year from the Southwest Indiana Arts Alliance. She has been teaching visual arts in the public school system since 1998.
