Janell played varsity volleyball for 3 years at Lincoln.  Her sophomore year, she was named Most Improved player of the year.  Her senior year, she was named Most Valuble Player and she was also named to the Sun-Commercial's All-Area team.

    When Tina Miller,the head volleyball coach at V.U., was asked by the Vincennes Sun Commercial about Janell, she replied "We chose Janell because of her athletic ability. She set for Lincoln and will work with us during the coming spring. I like her more as a hitter than a setter.  It's a matter of letting her play with better players. I know she has a lot of potential."
