NOTE: The Advanced Physical Education courses are offered to those who have completed two semesters of Basic Physical Education. In addition to following an
opportunity to further develop skill and knowledge in the respective activities, the advanced classes are also designed to develop the various components of physical fitness.
Grades: 9-10 (1 Semester)

Two semesters of this course are required of all students in order to meet graduation requirements of one credit. This course is designed to provide a variety of sports and activities that will aid in developing sufficient skill, knowledge, fitness, and self confidence that the student will be encouraged to live a lifestyle that would include these and other such activities that would benefit his/her total fitness.
Grades: 9 1/2-12 (1 Semester)
Prerequisite: P.E. 2
Students who have a desire to realize their full developmental and performance potential should enroll in this class which will include 45 minutes of nonstop physical activity and will push students to their physical capacity. Activities will include weight training, running, polymetrics (jump training), agilities, stretching and flexibility work, and speed-improvement drills. This course is open to non-athletes as well as athletes, although only students willing to work to their physical capacity should enroll. Advanced PE Athletic Training is the only Advanced PE that can be repeated for credit.

Skill related physical fitness will be a focal part of each team sport. Most sports require different parts of skill-related fitness. This class will provide a wide variety of physical activity and sports.
Grades: 9 1/2-12 (Fall Semester)
Prerequisite: Basic PE
Health-related physical fitness will be a primary objective for students in this class. Good health comes from doing activities designed to improve health-related physical fitness and can be achieved by people who consider themselves poor athletes as well as those who see themselves as great athletes.
Grades: 10 (1 Semester)
Prerequisite: None
Students will learn that good health habits improve the way they look, the way they perform in school and outside activities, the way they interact with others, and the way they feel about themselves. Being healthy allows people to be at their best and is simply a way of living each day that includes choices and decisions based on healthy attitudes. This required class will provide students information that will enable them to take positive actions and make positive decisions regarding their health.
Grades: 10-12 (1 Semester)
Prerequisite: Health Education
Students will demonstrate what to do and where to go for information to keep them healthy. They will learn to take charge of their health through an individualized program.
Grades: 9-12 (non-credit course)
Prerequisite: Must be 15 before July 10 in order to enroll
A student is required to have a minimum of 30 hours classroom instruction. This course is a class in basic laws, safety, rules of the road, drug and alcohol problems, and automobile design and construction. This class is offered after school and in summer school.
Grades: 9-12 (Non-credit and summer school only)
Prerequisite: Completion of Drivers Education classroom instruction
A student is required to have six (6) hours behind-the-wheel driving experience. This is broken into nine (9) sessions of forty (40) minutes each. All phases of modern traffic, highway, and road conditions are covered, along with use of common sense and the rules of the road. All students are required to pay for driver education at the time of enrollment. Contact LHS Assistant Principal for the exact dollar amount.
