WHO IS A SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST?

School Psychologists are professionals who share the responsibility of working with families and educators to insure appropriate educational experiences for all children.  They work as part of the collaborative team to help plan positive learning experiences for children.  They are one of the primary mental health contacts within schools.  School Psychologists actively promote community programs which advocate for children.

Indiana School Psychologists have advanced graduate academic degrees in their specialty area.  They have completed a Master's Degree plus 30 hours and an internship.   Many have also completed additional years of training to earn Educational Specialist and Doctoral level degrees.  School Psychologists are certified/licensed by the state.  National certification is available from the National School Psychology Certification Board.
