for every age. Find out how one man's dream became a reality for
all of us to enjoy.
Walt Disney World is
visited by thousands of people, young and old every year. This summer,
you and a friend have won a trip to visit the Magic Kingdom for a day.
You are to plan your itinerary from the time the park opens, 9:00 a.m.
until it closes at midnight. You must include the afternoon parade,
evening parade and the fireworks. You also must adjust your schedule
to allow 45 minutes wait time for the starred attractions listed below.
You will have $30.00 each for meals for the day, so check your restaurant
guidelines carefully. In addition, after your trip, you will
have a few assignments to complete. May you enjoy your magical day
in this kingdom of fantasy and make believe!
*** Space Mountain
*** Splash Mountain
*** Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
*** The Extraterrorestrial Alien Encounter
Additional Assignments:
1. Print out a map of the Magic Kingdom and highlight
all of the places you went. (Individually)

Remember the starred attractions have a 45 minute wait and dont forget
the must sees, afternoon parade, night parade, and the fireworks. (With

using written materials, brainstorming, and forming personal opinions,
you will be able to advise others your age what to see on a one-day adventure
to the Magic Kingdom. As you view the resources available, use the information
to complete the CLOZE story and determine which Disney trivia tidbits
you will want to use in your advertising project. A planned itinerary
would be so helpful to those interested in vacationing at the Magic Kingdom.
You and your partner will have created your ideal plan to recommend.

Magic Kingdom Cloze Story
My family and I love Walt
Disney World (WDW.) We would go there every year if we could.
My favorite place is the _____________. The feeling I get when I
enter the park and first step back in time on _______________is magical
itself. Here you can actually get a haircut at the ________, or watch
the glass blowers at _______________. If it is a sunny day, you may
want to buy your Mickey Mouse ears or a hat at ______________.
WDW first opened in _______
with only ___ attractions,
__ hotels, 3 golf courses, rental boats and a campground.
Walt Disney World now covers ______ sq. miles which is twice the size of
______________.
As you move
into another land you pass through the massive and beautiful medieval _______________
which stands approximately _____ feet high. In ______, we were there
for the _____ anniversary of WDW when the castle was painted pink and designed
to look like a birthday cake. My husband and I were celebrating the
same anniversary as WDW, so we had a great time with the celebrations.
Once through the castles massive
archway you enter Fantasyland. Here in this land of enchantment for
children, you can ride Cinderellas Golden Carrousel. This carrousel
was built in New Jersey in ____. Other favorites here are Peter Pans
Flight, Its a Small World, and Dumbo, the Flying Elephant. Colored
teacups spin their riders on ______________________. This ride,
popular with 9-20 year olds, is based on the 1951 movie __________________.
You can get excited about the
future in ____________ . The biggest attraction here is
_______________. This roller coaster ride speeds through the dark
at _____mph. Monsters from another planet seem to reach out and grab
you at ____________________. This attraction may be too intense for
some children. The voice of ________________ adds to the fun and
adventure as you enter the worlds first time machine and travel back in
time and beyond in ________________. When its time to relax, try a ___ minute ride on
the Tomorrowland Transit Authority, formally called the ______________________.
This peaceful excursion is a great way to get an overview of most of the
attractions in Tomorrowland.
As you enter __________________,
you will be proud to be an American. The _________________is a remarkable
use of Audio-Animatronics where the leaders of our nation seem to come
alive. Or, you can ride along with a ghost at the ______________,where
one of the biggest jobs is keeping the place dirty, not clean.
Looking for adventure?
Adventureland provides entertainment and fun on the _______________ as
you ride a boat through the jungle and encounter wild beasts and headhunters.
This attraction is best enjoyed during the daylight. One of the Magic Kingdoms
best is the ten-minute cruise with Pirates of the _____________.
Here guests set sail and experience a raid on a small town, dodge the cannon
fire, and sing along with the pirates as they sing their rendition of
___________________________.
The biggest attraction
in Frontierland is Splash Mountain. This water journey takes you
through the exploits of _________ as he heads for his ________________.
This attraction was based on Disneys 1946 film, ____________.
Riders get a wet thrill as they drop down ___ stories into the stream below.
Frontierland also includes the delightful animatronics and charm of the
Country Bear ___________. The wildest western coaster ride is
___________________. This scenery was designed after the _________________and
includes a small mining town, billy goats, and bats!
The newest neighborhood
in the Magic Kingdom is
______________________. This small village in vibrant
colors is a favorite of small children.
As for food and restaurants,
the Magic Kingdom has much to offer any budget. One of our favorites is
the Plaza Restaurant which is famous for its banana splits, floats, and
ice cream ______. Just outside this restaurant is a great place to
view the fireworks each evening. My husband and I love Tonys Town
Square Restaurant based on the Disney classic, _____________________.
Winnie the Pooh and Friends join the guests for their meal at the __________________.
Character meals are also available at many other restaurants in the park.
Fine food, with each particular theme, is tempting to the visitors in all
seven of the lands. From expensive to moderate, snacks to specialty
drinks, everyones tastes can be more than satisfied.
Finally, as night falls,
the entertainment and excitement builds. An absolute must see is
The Main Street Electrical Parade. Building lights and streetlights
are turned off and the twinkling of more than _______ lights on floats,
characters, and costumes makes its way along the parade route. This
parade made its debut in ______. My visit is not complete without
seeing the parade at ____p.m. and sometimes again at ____p.m.. In
between the parades, _____________makes her way flying down from the castle
to begin _______________, the nightly fireworks display. After dark,
just like in the daytime hours, everything is designed for happiness
and joy for young and old alike.
The Magic Kingdom is so
appropriately named. A magical place to get away to a world without
problems and just enjoy all that you possibly can. When I retire
I hope to someday be a part of this place where I can work with the sole
purpose of bringing joy and pleasure to those around me. Employees
at the Magic Kingdom are called ___________.
There is so much more that
I havent mentioned, the Monorail, the Walt Disney World Railroad,
Aunt Pollys Dockside Inn. I could go on and on. Sights and sounds,
magic to enjoy, its all here at Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom.
I hope you enjoy your magical WebQuest and if you have never been to Walt
Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom in person, I certainly hope you are someday
able to experience it first hand. Then you to can remember the magic
with me.

Comments:
Hopefully
your day in the Magic Kingdom has been a memorable and enjoyable one.
With so much to do and see, perhaps you could return again soon.
This WebQuest adventure
to the Magic Kingdom will probably take about 2 weeks to complete, depending
on the choices made, class size, and age of the students. It has
been designed for middle school students and adapted for Title I learners.
Maybe your next visit could include more days in the Magic Kingdom or a
visit to one of the other parks in Walt Disney World. This would
help expand your WebQuest adventure. Remember, all of this is the
result of one mans dream. You too can believe in the magic of
your dreams!
Suggested Extension Activities:
* Write a story about a persons first trip
to the Magic Kingdom
* Write an essay about Walt Disney and
how his kingdom began.
* Create a word search puzzle using
Magic Kingdom vocabulary.
* Conduct a survey of classmates and
teachers to see who has been to
the Magic Kingdom how
recent.
* Create a PowerPoint slide for the
information found and advice for a
one-day adventure to the
Magic Kingdom.
