Project Resource Page

 

Project Objectives:

  1. Students will gain a more complete knowledge of the period of US History ranging from Reconstruction to the beginning of World War I
  2. Students will develop historical research skill as well as more effective ways to analyze historic information.
  3. The project provides an alternative method for students to learn about this period of US History.
  4. Students become more "in charge" of their own learning and provides a varied learning experience beyond the traditional textbook/worksheet/testing idea.

 

Project Timeline:

October 08, 2008: Project announcement and DVD video list distribute
October 10, 2008: Group sign-up and project selection
October 13, 2008: Early Bird video viewing in Room C-215 before/after school or during lunch periods begins
October 16-23, 2008: Student groups work in LHS Media Center creating projects AFTER viewing their video. (Student groups may also continue viewing video segments in Room C-215.)
October 20, 2008: HARD COPY BRIEFING. Student groups will turn in their folders for preliminary evaluation, including storyboards, notes sheet for video, and printed copies of online research, as well as Xeroxed copies of any text-based research.
October 21, 2008: Folders returned to groups. Groups continue to work on projects.
October 23, 2008: FINAL DAY TO WORK ON PROJECTS; PROJECTS DUE BY THE END OF THE PERIOD ON THIS DATE. GROUPS SHOULD PLAN TO DEMONSTRATE THEIR PROJECTS TO MRS. WAGLER AND MR. HUTCHISON BEFORE THE END OF THE CLASS PERIOD. FOLDERS ARE DUE IN AT THIS TIME AS WELL. No Exceptions.
October 28, 2008: Target date for evaluations to be completed and returned to groups.
