Lyndon B. Johnson was the 36th President of the United States of America. Johnson was born on August 27, 1908 near Stonewall, Texas. When he was two years old, his mother taught him the alphabet and when he was four he was reading books. He was the oldest of five children, both of his parents were teachers . He graduated from college in 1930, it was clear that he would accomplish great things in his life . After his graduation, he went on to become a teacher at Sam Houston High School teaching public speaking and debate.Washington D.C. in 1931 he became a Congressional Secretary . He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1937, from 1941 to 1942, during World War II Johnson seved as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy. He was elected Vice President in 1960, the president of that time was J.F.K. When Kennedy was assisinated, Johnson took over. He proved to be a strong willed president, but a poor speaker. He achieved great things as a president such as, Headstart, and Medicare. After Johnson served his term, he didn't run again because of fear of his actions during Vietnam. Johnson died on January 22, 1973.
