Richard Milhous Nixon

Richard was born in Yorba Linda California, and he had 5 brothers and 1 sister, who were all born into the Quaker religion. When Nixon became 9 years of age, due to a failure at their farm, he and his family moved to Whittier California. He attended various public schools, and was accepted to Whittier College at the age of 17. He excelled in public speaking and won his first election as president of the student body. Nixon, the model student, graduated second in his class. Soon after this, he recieved a scholarship to a law school called Duke University.

He first took office in 1969, and was faced with a tremendous amount of problems, not just at work but at home also. These perpetual problems included the war in Vietnam, the opposing to the war by the Americans, and the continuing struggle for civil rights.
After his first term was over, he decided to run for re-election against George McGovern, and he easily won. Shortly after his re-election, he resigned from office. Then as he grew older, he became weaker, and very ill. Sadly he died in 1994, but his unique, and desirable qualities still live on today.
