April Calendar Events April has begun with beautiful weather and is a signal of new life and renewal! A huge congratulations to Mrs. Vickers for winning the Golden Apple award from WTHI Channel 10! It is a great honor and we are so proud of her! It is Autism Awareness Month and our staff will be wearing a t-shirt every Friday that was designed by our Autistic student, Dryden Owens! The Resource Room will also be making and writing about dirt pudding as part of their celebration of Earth Day 2011. Our Character Education theme this month is “Trust.” It is something that is earned, not just given freely. The Tecumseh- Harrison Relay for Life Team is still raising money for our team. The PENNY WARS was very successful. Thank you for all your support! The principal’s Pick of the Month is also out…so check out the new picks in the library! We also have a Family Fun Night/ Young Author’s Night scheduled this month. It will be a little different as it will be a “Rock Like a Rock Star” theme and food will be served as well as many fun activities. The Book Fair will be open during the week of April 18th. May’s P.T.O. meeting will feature our annual review of our Title I policy. Finally, the last day to place a teacher request for next year will be May 1st . Monday, April 4th –Mrs. Liver’s class will be attending water safety classes at the Y.M.C.A. this week. Bring your suit and towel. P.T.O. meets tonight at 7:00 in the library. Hear the updates on our spring fundraiser and give input on our scholarships and plans. Tuesday, April 5th – Happy birthday Mrs. Kifer! Challenge Research meets after school in the Reading Lab until 3:45. Math Pentathlon meets after school until 3:30. Wednesday, April 6th – Fourth grade travels to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway today. The bus leaves at 7:30 A.M. and returns at 4:30. Cub Scout Pack 291 meets tonight at 6:30 in the gym. Thursday, April 7th – Challenge Research meets after school in the Reading Lab until 3:45. Friday, April 8th – Challenge Research Fair participants set up between 5-7 P.M. Saturday, April 9th - Challenge Research Fair at Clark Middle School. Tuesday, April 12th – Math Pentathlon meets after school with Mrs. Johnson in the Reading Lab until 3:30. Wednesday, April 13th – Cub Scout Pack 291 meets tonight in the gym at 6:30. Friday, April 15th – Student Council meets this morning at 7:45 in the computer lab. You can buy a license for $.25 and that will allow you to wear a hat on Friday! Cub Scout Pack 291 meets tonight at 6:30. Thursday, April 21st – Hat licenses are on sale this morning in the gym. Tonight is another great Family Fun Night/Young Author’s Night. The theme “Rock like a Rock Star” will be celebrated with lots of fun and food. Watch for more information to come. Friday, April 22nd – School is in session today. This is a snow make-up day! Today is Hat Day! Licenses will still be on sale this morning in the gym. Monday, April 25th - The second round of ISTEP starts today. This is the multiple choice part. Please go to bed early and eat a good breakfast. It will continue most of the week. Tuesday, April 26th – ISTEP continues. Math Pentathlon meets after school with Mrs. Johnson until 3:30. Our THE choir sings at the L.H.S. baseball game tonight at 5:30. Wednesday, April 27th - ISTEP continues. Cub Scout Pack 291 meets tonight at 6:30. Friday, April 29th - Final day for ISTEP! Parents: Here is some information on Early Head Start and Head Start Programs Early Head Start is for pregnant women and children up to 3 years old. Head Start is for children born between 8/2/02 and 8/1/04 (unless the public school cut-off date changes). Options: Center Based-Children attend one of our facilities Monday-Thursday 8:00-1:00 (Head Start Only) Full Day/Full Year-Children attend one of our facilities Monday-Friday, Head Start 7:30-5:30, Early Head Start 7:30-4:30 To Qualify for this option, parents must be working, going to school, or have a
special need. Home Based- A home visitor comes to the home once a week and the child comes
to the center 2 times per month for socialization. (Early Head Start & Head Start).
Applications are available at our centers, by mail, or from our website www.pacecaa.org or we
can complete one in the home. Eligibility is base on income and need. Transportation may be
provided. Children with disabilities are encouraged to apply. For an application or additional
