Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary School
opened its doors in 1906 and has gone through many changes over the years.  In 1974 the Hoke gym was built and in 1975 the Vincennes Community School Corporation purchased the Sacred Heart Catholic School across the street, which was built in 1961. In 1998 the VCSC constructed a new wing housing 4 classrooms.

Main Building Main Floor

You Enter our school through the old buildings main door on the 2nd Street side, this is the only door that is unlocked in our complex.

As you enter, you will notice our historical artifacts display and awards wall.

The office is straight ahead and we try to keep the office area decorated to celebrate the seasons.

Our halls throughout the complex are filled with the art of the many artists who have visited our school over the years.

Off the main hall of the old building is the Library.  We call it the hay loft because of the room structure.  Our library is the center of our Accelerated Reading Program.

We also have two second grade classrooms on this floor.  All of our classrooms are brightly decorated and reflect the personality of the teacher.

In our  primary classrooms the teacher works with small groups of four or five students.
Each room has a rocking chair, rug area, learning centers, plants, and many have animals
Each classroom has a computer pod and all our computers are connected to the Internet
Teachers meet on the rug area for total activities.

One fourth grade classroom is also on the main floor.  This fourth grade room is our center for teaching Indiana History and is filled with artifacts, and teaching material about Indiana.  Each fourth grade teacher also teachers reading, spelling, health and science.

As you go up the stairs to the second floor, you will again note both children's art work and the art work of visiting artist.
