The Tecumseh-Harrison gym
was
built and opened in 1974 and is an outstanding building. The Hoke Gym was
named in honor of former principal Lucille Hoke who attended school here
as a child, taught in this school and became the principal for 25 years.
The walls are all brick and the room is trimmed in redwood. The floor
is
rubber which is great for sports. We use the gym for our
lunch program, special arts in education events,
P.E.
and sporting events.
Our boys' basketball teams have
won many championships on this court. Our girls'
volleyball team has won its share of championships as well.
You will find our teams' mascot, the eagle,
at center court. Our team colors are red, white,
and blue. In the winter of 2000 artist in residence working
with our students built giant eagle claws coming from the ceiling
on the south wall. Our gym is now know as the
"Eagles Nest".
