Title One Information
Vigo is very proud of our Title One program. We are considered a school-wide program, which means that all students in our building can receive services in our Reading Lab and Math Lab. Mrs. Utt, the Title One Reading Teacher and Mr. Clements, the Title One Math teacher have developed their programs to fit the needs of our students while addressing the Indiana Academic Standards.

Vigo Elementary School is committed to involving parents in the success of their children. At Vigo, parent involvement is more than just a program: it’s a process that builds and includes parents as partners in the education of their children. Opportunities for partnership can occur at home with home-time activities; in the schools as volunteers or members of the Title I Advisory Committee, or in groups such as PTO. These are just a few ways for parents to be involved.
Vigo Elementary Title I Parent Involvement Opportunities
· “Meet Your Teacher” Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Title I Parent Nights, PTO activities and special events will be conducted at Vigo to provide opportunities for parents to take an active role in their child’s education.
· Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held in the fall. Special appointments may also be scheduled when necessary.
· Title I Annual meeting along with BINGO for Books will be held in the fall to review and explain the Title I program at Vigo.
· A Title I Advisory Committee will be formed with parents, staff, and the principal to plan, review, and improve the Title I program.
· Parent Surveys will be distributed at “Meet Your Teacher” Night so that parents may express their ideas and needs.
· Report cards are issued at the end of each nine-week grading period. When the ISTEP+ test results arrive, a parent letter is sent home with each child. STAR reading reports are sent home throughout the year. Accelerated Reader TOPS reports are sent home each time a child takes an AR quiz.

Parent Resource Center - Mrs. Brenda Vieke, Coordinator
The Parent Resource Center is located in the Home-School Liaison office at Vigo. Our goal is to help parents become actively involved in their children’s education. The job of parenting is one that is both extremely important and difficult. At the Vigo PRC, we have a limited collection of educational materials to aid parents in working with their children at home. Parents may check out materials from the Parent Resource Center at any time during the school day. For additional information and services see: http://www.fscp.org.
Parents are always welcome at Vigo. Mrs. Utt and Mr. Clements are available to answer any questions you may have regarding our Title One program.
