Chamber year awards

Two Vincennes Community School Corporation employees were recognized during the Knox County Chamber of Commerce’s 109th annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening.

VCSC Police Chief Aaron Luce was named Public Servant of the Year.

“I am so grateful and honored to be recognized as the Public Servant of the Year by the Knox County Chamber of Commerce,” said Chief Luce.

“The award was unexpected, but it is very validating for me and others for the effort we put in day in and day out."

Chief Luce shared that the students and staff are what make coming to work each day so meaningful.

He feels fortunate to be part of a supportive, welcoming environment where everyone is valued.

“I want people to know that even though my name is on the award, the support of the school corporation, the work of our department, and the effort my guys put in are what make the VCSC Police Department a success.”

Also recognized for his outstanding work was Parker Newman, a teacher at Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary, who received the Educator of the Year award.

“It’s an honor to be recognized, and I’m grateful to represent the work happening in special education,” said Newman.

“This award highlights the importance of inclusion and the value of supporting every student.”

Newman said the most rewarding part of his job is helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

“It’s about helping them grow, overcome challenges, and reach their potential.”

Superintendent Greg Parsley said both Chief Luce and Newman are shining examples of what makes VCSC so special.

“I could not be more proud of these two individuals, whose talents, dedication, and daily contributions greatly enrich our school community. Their recent recognitions are not only well earned but also deeply deserved. The VCSC is truly grateful for all they do.”

Congratulations to Chief Luce and Mr. Newman!
