Image of VCSC's Police Officers

The new year brings exciting opportunities for Vincennes Community School Corporation as five school resource officers were officially sworn in during the January 13 School Board Meeting.

These officers are part of VCSC’s newly formed police department, established to enhance school security and build stronger connections with students and staff.

“Protecting our students and staff is always of the highest priority and I am elated, working with the VCSC Board, that having our own police department will allow us to take this to the next level and provide greater levels of safety and security,” said Superintendent Greg Parsley.

Some of the officers are familiar faces in our schools, while others are stepping into their new roles and eager to make a positive impact.

Here’s a little bit about the officers you’ll see around the schools.

Aaron Luce

Chief

Headshot of Aaron Luce
My name is Aaron Luce. I’m the Chief of Police of the newly established Vincennes Community School Corporation Police Department. I am a 2012 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and was born and raised right here in Vincennes.

After high school, I attended MacMurray College, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a bachelor’s degree in homeland security, as well as a minor in business administration. While at MacMurray, I played baseball for two years.

After college, I was fortunate to find a job before graduation at the Knox County Sheriff’s Department here in Vincennes. I was employed there as a jail officer until being hired at the Vincennes Police Department in September 2016.

During my time at the Vincennes Police Department, I worked several years on patrol. I also served as a field training officer, public information officer, and held the rank of sergeant. I served as the School Resource Program Supervisor and was primarily stationed at Vincennes Lincoln High School. While at Lincoln, I founded the Emergency Services Club to get high school students interested in the first responder field.

In November 2024, the Vincennes Community School Corporation appointed me as Chief of Police for the Vincennes Community School Corporation Police Department.

In my personal life, I have a wife, one son, and two dogs. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, working outside, reading, and watching sports in my free time.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Police for the Vincennes Community School Corporation Police Department and for the chance to focus solely on school safety and building relationships with the children. I look forward to this exciting new chapter for the Vincennes Community School Corporation!

Cody Jones

Assistant Chief

Officer Cody Jones
I was born and raised in Knox County. I attended Vincennes Rivet High School. Following high school, I attended Vincennes University and later transferred to the University of Southern Indiana, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I have been in law enforcement since 2017. I started as a deputy jailer at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and became a member of the SERT team for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office—Jail Division. In 2019, I worked for the Pike County Sheriff’s Office as a patrol deputy and later became the breacher for the SWAT team there. In 2023, I returned to Knox County as a school resource officer for Clark Middle School and joined the VCSC-PD as the Assistant Chief of Police.

I am beyond excited about this new police department. I believe this will be an invaluable asset to help protect the students and staff of VCSC. I truly believe our officers will make a positive difference in the lives of students and help create positive relationships with law enforcement. I have only worked a short time with VCSC, but I can honestly say the staff is amazing to work with, and they always get the job done. We will constantly work to create a safe and secure learning environment for VCSC.

Joshua Shipman

Officer

Officer Joshua Shipman
Hello there, my name is Joshua Shipman. I was born here in Vincennes and grew up here for most of my life. I’ve been in law enforcement for almost six years. For the last three years, I had the privilege of being the school resource officer for North Knox Primary School. This has been the most rewarding part of my law enforcement career. Every day, I had the opportunity to make a positive impact on the kids at my school. Being an SRO gives me a sense of fulfillment, knowing I help create a safe and supportive learning environment for these kids. I’m excited about this new opportunity to serve the students and families of the Vincennes Community School Corporation.

God has blessed me with an amazing wife, two boys, and one more on the way. I couldn’t do what I do without their love and support. Jesus says the most important command is to love God and love people. I believe there is no greater way to love people than to serve and protect them. I look forward to being a part of the VCSC family.

Officer Kyle Evans
I am a graduate of Vincennes University (2010) and an Indiana Law Enforcement Academy graduate (2011). I worked at the Vincennes University Police Department for two years and at the Knox County Sheriff’s Department for 10 years. I stepped away from law enforcement for two and a half years to pursue a career in the occupational health and safety field, but I realized my true passion is law enforcement in the community. I will be at Lincoln High School most of the time.
