National School Counseling Week

This week, Vincennes Community School Corporation proudly celebrated National School Counseling Week, recognizing the invaluable contributions of our dedicated school counselors.

These professionals are the cornerstone of student success, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to help students navigate academics, social challenges, and future aspirations.

“Our school counselors within the VCSC are the heart of student support, guiding academic growth, fostering resilience, and inspiring pathways for our students,” said VCSC Superintendent Greg Parsley.

“Their dedication is transformational, and we could not do the work that we do daily without that of our school counselors.”

Each of our counselors plays a unique and essential role in shaping the lives of VCSC students.

Miranda Martin

Franklin Elementary/Riley Elementary

Miranda Martin

Miranda Martin is a counselor at both Franklin and Riley Elementary Schools. With 22 years of experience as a counselor, she has spent the past 7 years serving the students of VCSC. Miranda is passionate about helping students learn and grow, particularly cherishing those moments when students experience a breakthrough and have a "lightbulb" moment. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, spending quality time with her family, cooking, and gardening.

Melissa Lazzara

Washington Learning Academy

Melizza Lazzara

Melissa Lazzara has been the school counselor at Washington Learning Academy (WLA) since it began in 2020. She has been working as a school counselor for 6 years, though she has 20 years of experience in education. Melissa is passionate about the relationships she develops with students and staff and values her role in contributing to a safe and supportive school culture. She feels fortunate to help young people discover their strengths and begin to recognize all they are capable of. Outside of school, Melissa enjoys gardening, painting, kayaking, and spending time with her family and their four dogs.

Jennifer Vickers

Clark Middle School

Jennifer Vickers

Jennifer is a school counselor at Clark Middle School with 8 years of experience in counseling, following 14 years as an elementary school teacher.

She finds the most fulfillment in watching students learn and practice social and emotional skills, then use them independently when needed. Engaging with students to learn about their interests and seeing them grow socially, emotionally, and academically is a highlight of her work. Above all, Jennifer is dedicated to helping students have a positive middle school experience, where they feel cared for and valued.

Outside of her work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her kids and dogs, taking walks, and going on road trips. She is also passionate about training teachers, staff, and community members in suicide prevention.

Teresa Mansfield

Lincoln High School

 Teresa Mansfield

This is Teresa's second year at Lincoln High School, and she feels fortunate to have the opportunity to work with students, guiding them as they navigate high school and prepare for the next chapter in their lives. The most rewarding aspect of her job is watching students grow from their freshman year all the way through to graduation. She is proud to be part of the outstanding team of educators and staff at Lincoln High School.

Sally Fulk

Sally Fulk

Sally has been a school counselor at Lincoln High School for 8 years and has 17 years of experience in counseling.

She enjoys building strong relationships with students, helping them navigate high school, and connecting their growth during these years to their future endeavors.

Outside of school, Sally enjoys spending time at home and with her family.
