Vigo Bulldog

Welcome to the Francis Vigo Elementary website!

As principal, it is my pleasure to tell you a little about Vigo Elementary. Vigo houses K - 5

students. The Vigo mascot is a bulldog. Vigo is named after Francis Vigo, who helped finance

the American Revolution and established Jefferson Academy which later became Vincennes

University.

The teaching staff at Vigo are caring, hard working, dedicated professionals that go above and

beyond to meet the needs of our students and ensure every child receives a high quality

education. They provide rigorous but relevant instruction through proven strategies while

building relationships that many times last a lifetime. The support staff are top-notch and include

a dean of students, counselor, nurse, social worker, instructional assistants and more.

Vigo is one-to-one with technology, which means every child has their own device to use at

school. Students are offered visual arts, music, and physical education. They have STEM class

weekly in an innovation lab. They are taught social skills and have literacy enhancement time.

There are clubs and activities they can be involved in as well.

We highly value home/school communication and believe it is vital for the success of your

child's education. Vigo offers multiple ways to keep up to date on school activities, including this

website, Facebook, School Status, School Messenger, email, monthly newsletter, and more.

You can also become active in the PTO. ( Parent / Teacher Organization) We encourage you to

stay informed on your child’s progress through Powerschool and by keeping in touch with your

child’s teacher.

I look forward to working with all of you. You are always welcome to call the office at

812-882-5817 if you need information or would like to schedule a visit to Francis Vigo

Elementary.

Thank you for viewing our website and partnering with us as we strive to provide educational

excellence everyday.
