Welcome to Vigo Elementary School

As principal, it is my pleasure to share a little about our school. Vigo houses students in grades K–5, and our mascot is the bulldog. The school is named after Francis Vigo, who helped finance the American Revolution and established Jefferson Academy, which later became Vincennes University.

The teaching staff at Vigo are caring, hardworking, and dedicated professionals who go above and beyond to meet the needs of our students and ensure every child receives a high-quality education. They provide rigorous yet relevant instruction through proven strategies while building relationships that often last a lifetime. Our support staff are top-notch and include a dean of students, counselor, nurse, social worker, instructional assistants, and more.

Vigo is one-to-one with technology, meaning every child has their own device to use at school. Students are offered visual arts, music, and physical education and attend STEM class weekly in our innovation lab. They are taught social skills, participate in literacy enhancement time, and have opportunities to join clubs and activities throughout the year.

We highly value communication between home and school and believe it is vital to every child’s success. Vigo offers multiple ways to stay updated on school activities, including this website, Facebook, PowerSchool, School Messenger, email, our monthly newsletter, and more. Families are encouraged to stay informed on their child’s progress through PowerSchool and remain in close communication with their child’s teacher. You can also become active in the PTO (Parent/Teacher Organization).

I look forward to working with all of you. You are always welcome to call the office at 812-882-5817 if you need information or would like to schedule a visit to Francis Vigo Elementary.

Thank you for viewing our website and partnering with us as we strive to provide educational excellence every day.
