Lincoln High School has once again received generous support for its Caring Cabinet initiative

On Tuesday, the Knox County Community Foundation awarded the project a $2,000 Community Good Grant.

The money will be used to provide students with personal hygiene items and clothing, helping families who may not have the means to purchase these essentials.

The Caring Cabinet began in 2010 with a simple purpose: to ensure students had access to basic items that support their well-being.

Originally, students had to request items directly from a teacher, but the cabinet later transitioned to an open-access model.

This change allows students to discreetly pick up what they need, helping remove barriers of embarrassment or stigma.

By making essential items readily available, the Caring Cabinet aims to reduce absenteeism related to hygiene concerns.

When students no longer worry about having the necessary items for daily self-care, they can focus more on attending class, engaging in their learning, and building confidence.

This year’s grant follows a similar $2,000 award in 2024, which helped keep the cabinet stocked throughout the 2024–2025 school year.

The continued support will make a meaningful impact on students throughout the 2025–2026 school year as well.

Lincoln High School and the Vincennes Community School Corporation are sincerely grateful to the Knox County Community Foundation and the Community Foundation Alliance, Inc., for their continued commitment to supporting student needs.
