Flanagan

Vincennes Lincoln High School has named Rob Flanagan as its new head boys basketball coach, ushering in a new era for a program with a strong tradition and dedicated community support.

Flanagan replaces Dave Mahurin and brings with him a distinguished coaching career defined by sustained success, program building, and recognition at the highest levels. He was inducted into the Illinois High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019 and has accumulated 598 career victories.

Flanagan began his head coaching career at Cisne High School, where he compiled a 61-45 record. He later led Carterville High School to a 60-44 mark over four seasons.

The majority of his career was spent at Richland County High School in Olney, Illinois. Over 27 seasons, Flanagan built one of the most successful programs in Southern Illinois, posting a 477-298 record. He became the winningest coach in school history and guided the Tigers to multiple conference championships and postseason appearances, including a third-place finish in the 2008 IHSA State Tournament.

Across his time at Cisne, Carterville, and Richland County, Flanagan’s 598 career wins place him among the most accomplished coaches in the region.

Flanagan will begin his duties immediately as he leads the Alices into the next chapter of the program. Vincennes Lincoln High School is pleased to welcome Rob and his wife, Kristin, to the school and the Vincennes community.

Vincennes Lincoln will host a meet and greet for players, coaches, and community members to welcome Coach Flanagan on Friday, April 24.

The event will take place in the Vincennes Lincoln Cafeteria from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Following the meet and greet, Coach Flanagan will meet with players in the locker room at 7:15 p.m.
