VCSC PD Porter

Clark Middle School students in the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) class recently got a special visit from Officer Kevin Porter of the VCSC Police Department. But this wasn’t your typical police stop — Officer Porter came by to inspire.

During his visit, Officer Porter shared his journey with students, talking about the path he took through education and work to become a law enforcement officer.

He explained the training and programs required for those interested in this career, as well as the variety of roles available in the field, such as patrol officers and school resource officers.

Students asked many questions about his career and daily responsibilities.

Officer Porter took time to answer each one, helping students understand what it’s really like to work in law enforcement.

The class also got a hands-on look at some of the equipment Officer Porter uses in his day-to-day job.

Students got to check out his badge, gloves, first aid kit, and even see what it feels like to be handcuffed.

The visit was a great opportunity for students to learn directly from a professional and see what it takes to serve and protect their community.

It was also a reminder that VCSC police officers do more than keep schools safe — they take time to visit classrooms and inspire students to reach their goals.
