VCSC Meeting

The Vincennes Community School Corporation Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Monday, June 9 at 8 a.m. at the VCSC Administration Building.

The meeting opened with the approval of the consent agenda, which included minutes, claims, financial and investment statements, personnel items, field trip requests, and facility usage.

Personnel Updates

Resignations:

  • Brandi Moore, Tecumseh-Harrison Teacher (2025–26 school year)

  • Joe Sakowicz, Riley Morning Supervisor (2025–26 school year)

  • Jon Litherland, CMS Concession Purchaser

New Recommendations:

Notable appointments included Mrs. Kyela Jones as the new full-time Work-Based Learning Coordinator at LHS and Mrs. Tricia Hall as the new principal of Clark Middle School, promoted from assistant principal. Both bring extensive experience and a deep commitment to VCSC students.

Challenge Research and IREAD Recognitions

The board acknowledged elementary students with the highest scores in the 2025 Challenge Research Fair:

  • Franklin: Grant Deckard – “Basketball in Indiana”

  • Riley: Adelynn Smith – “Dreams”; Lincoln Hudson – “Larry Bird”

  • Tecumseh-Harrison: Truly Hagerdon – “Black History”

  • Vigo: Xzhayvion Sanner – “Michael Jackson”

Students with perfect IREAD scores were also recognized:

  • Franklin: Corbin Contreras

  • Tecumseh-Harrison: Zia Bramblett, Tyler Edwards, Harmony Eakins

These students were honored at their respective schools’ year-end awards programs.

Facility Use

Sodexo received approval to use the Vigo Elementary blacktop for its annual staff BBQ on June 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Decision Items Approved

  • Transfer of Funds: $3,361.08 from a dormant Clark Middle School bookstore account to the CMS Student Activities account

  • Duke Energy Grant: $11,500 awarded to support LHS’s Career Fair and mini career fairs at elementary schools

  • Food Service Provider: Continued partnership with Sodexo, with a projected annual return of $66,029 and a $10,000 annual donation commitment

  • LHS Chiller & Sprinkler Replacement Bids:

    • Chiller replacement awarded to H.G. Heinz ($860,000 base bid plus alternates)

    • Sprinkler phase one awarded to Wolfe Construction ($1,156,845 with a $29,000 deduction)

All bids came in under initial cost estimates.
