VCSC Meeting

The Vincennes Community School Corporation Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Monday, August 11.

Personnel Updates
Several staffing changes were approved. The corporation is saying goodbye to multiple valued employees and thanking them for their service. New hires include teachers, aides, coaches, and support staff. Highlights include:

  • Kyle von Almen – Physical Education teacher at Riley and Franklin. Mr. von Almen has over 25 years of experience, most recently in Arizona, and is returning to his Indiana roots.

New Teacher 1

  • Kristen Wilson – Franklin 4th-grade teacher, bringing more than a decade of classroom experience plus three years in administration.

  • Megan Hankins – Franklin 5th-grade Social Studies and Science teacher, a North Knox graduate and recent Vincennes University graduate full of energy and passion for education.

New Teacher 2

Multiple internal transfers and one upcoming maternity leave were also approved.

Facility Use Requests
The board approved requests for Cub Scout Pack 270 and the Franklin PTO to hold their monthly meetings at Franklin Elementary.

New Teacher Growth Plan
A new Teacher Growth Plan was approved to replace the current RISE-based evaluation system. This updated plan, created by VCSC administrators with input from building leaders, aligns with changes in state law and allows more flexibility in evaluating educators. Adjustments may be made after a full year of implementation.

2026 Budget Advertisement
The board approved advertising the proposed 2026 budget, which totals $44,064,073. The budget includes funding for education, debt service, operations, and the rainy day fund, with an estimated total tax rate of 1.3263. Comparisons were shared with 2025 budget estimates and actuals.

The next VCSC Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Administration Building, 1712 S. Quail Run Rd.
