On Monday, the Vincennes Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees met for its monthly meeting to review updates, discuss initiatives, and share highlights from across the district.
Highlight of the Month – Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary
Principal Jono Connor spotlighted the school’s focus on collaboration and community, featuring Mrs. Wendy Mullins, 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Mullins transitioned from 2nd to 5th grade this year and has reenergized the classroom with project-based learning and creative technology use. Her students’ work is displayed throughout the building, and several will share their experiences at the meeting.
Employees of the Month
• Tecumseh-Harrison: Kiley Koenig, now in her 17th year with VCSC, has taught kindergarten through 2nd grade. She serves on the school’s safety committee and mentors new teachers.
• Franklin Elementary: Becky Weber, part of Franklin’s team since 2016, works in the Title Lab and frequently steps up to co-teach or substitute. Known for her positive attitude, Becky is also pursuing her teaching license.
Personnel Updates
• Resignations: Tessa Boger (CMS Health), Karyn Cook (TH Title I Aide), David LaCour (VCSCPD SRO)
• New Hires: Includes Jaden Field (CMS Health Teacher), a Lincoln High alum and former strength coach, along with several coaching and aide appointments across schools.
• Fundraisers & Facility Use:
o “Boo Grams,” dances, and restaurant nights at multiple schools.
o CMS Life Skills merchandise sale and Fazoli’s Dine to Donate.
o FCA’s Fields of Faith at Inman Field on November 2.
2026 Budget Adoption
The Board officially adopted the 2026 Vincennes Community School Corporation budget, which totals $40,634,230 across all funds:
• Education Fund: $22,340,000
• Operations Fund: $10,500,000
• Debt Service: $6,775,000
• Rainy Day Fund: $1,019,230
This balanced budget maintains the corporation’s commitment to academic excellence, safety, and staff support while addressing facility and operational needs for the coming year.
Sister Cities Exchange Program
LHS will host 18 students and 3 chaperones from Vincennes, France, October 18–25. Visitors will stay with host families and explore the community, continuing a 20+ year partnership.
Tentative 2025–2027 Teacher Contract
Tentatively approved by teachers and awaiting formal Board approval in November.
Key updates include:
• 2-year agreement with competitive salary increases ($47K–$76K in 2025–26; $48K–$77.5K in 2026–27)
• Higher HSA contributions
• $750–$1,000 stipends for low absenteeism
• $65 per unused day payout upon retirement (up to $8,450)
• Adjustments to coaching stipends and new extracurricular roles
Policy Updates (Second Reading)
Numerous revisions recommended by Neola to align with new state and federal laws, including updates to:
• Dress and appearance codes
• Financial literacy curriculum
• Field trip and safety policies
• Bullying and student records procedures
• Graduation and diploma requirements
• Health, medication, and background check policies
The next VCSC Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the administration building.
