There will be a Career Fair at Vincennes Lincoln High School Alice Arena on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. All Vincennes Lincoln and Clark Middle School students will be attending. In addition, the junior and senior students from North Knox, South Knox, and Rivet high schools have been invited to attend. We invite your business organization to come and share career and job skills information with the students. Career fairs are an opportunity for students to learn more about the industries and careers that interest them, to hear directly from our community members who were once in their shoes --- beginning the exciting process of discovering their talents and passions for their future. We also want the students to see how crucial employability skills are in obtaining a job and a successful career. Whether you have an opportunity for students to learn about apprenticeships or work-based learning, have full or part-time jobs available, would like to answer questions students have about your profession, or just want to share your passions and expertise, you can make a difference in the lives of our students in the Vincennes Community School Corporation as well as the juniors and seniors from North Knox, South Knox, and Rivet high schools who are able to attend. We sincerely hope you and your organization will be able to participate. There is no charge to have a table at the event. However, sponsorships are available for those interested and are greatly appreciated. A flyer is attached with more details, or you can directly contact a committee member listed below. You can also register online by using this link: Register Online: Career Fair Presenters (google.com) We hope to see you at the career fair! Parents and caregivers joined Jeff Veley for a “Laugh and Learn Lunch” and learned how to help their students identify and respond to aggression and resolve social conflicts. It was a great opportunity for parents/guardians to be able to connect what they learned at the lunch to what their children learned at the assembly and have supportive conversations at home.

Great turnout last night for the annual Riley neighborhood Halloween parade. When I reflect back to the many meetings the Board and I held a few years back and we made the commitment to keep our neighborhood schools, it is reasons like what has transpired in October from the Tecumseh-Harrison Pumpkin Patch to Vigo and the BooGo, Riley and the Halloween Parade and we still have the annual Franklin Chili Supper to come. Always awesome to see the neighborhoods and community support our elementary schools.

One of the many things that I appreciate about our community is our greatest asset and this is our people. Time after time, when someone is in need, the community rallies. As an example of this, many within the community financially stepped up to offer their support so that three food trucks would show up at LHS on Friday and that our students would also have an additional offering from sack lunches. After our dishwasher fire on Tuesday, August 29 we did receive some considerable damage in the way of clean-up that was needed for our kitchen. Crews are working feverishly to get the kitchen back up and running. But thanks to the partnership that we already have in place with the Food Trucks through our JRTOC program and city councilman Brian Grove, they worked to get the resources in place so that every student could have something different for lunch this Friday in the way of a warm option and at no cost to the students. So, thank you to Councilman Grove and all who stepped up to offer support. Speaks volumes about our greatest asset and this being our people.
